Speaker – Walter Protrebka

October 7 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Walter Protrebka will present “Reducing your Photographic Impact.  How I capture images while prioritizing the welfare of the subject.

Walter is a wildlife photographer and licensed photography guide specializing in Manitoba’s wildlife.  He leads tours for Snowy and Great Gray Owls in southern Manitoba,  and for Polar Bears, Beluga Whales, and the Aurora in Churchill.

With clients from all corners of the world, Walter loves to showcase the beauty that we are lucky enough to have at our doorstep.  Our normal is their exotic.  He has also been the lead guide for nature documentaries such as “Forces of Nature,” and has been a finalist in the Bird Photographer of the Year, and was voted top 100 in the Audubon Photography Awards. Walter’s tours focus on low-impact wildlife photography that gives his clients amazing photographic opportunities, while putting the welfare of the subject 1st.

In this talk, he will share what he has learned on how to create striking wildlife images while keeping the welfare of his subject in mind.  He will talk about the gear and settings he finds essential to his work, the fieldcraft techniques he uses, and will lead a discussion on reducing your impact on your wildlife subjects.
