Changing Colours of the Tundra

Presented by April Stampe, Louise Nichol and Elaine O’Keeffe – February 16, 2022

Alex and Stephanie, from Discover Churchill were our guides for five days in Churchill. They drove us through the tundra in search of polar bears and other wildlife. They told us stories of the people from Churchill, the way they lived and worked in the area over the years. We learned about the Metis history from Dave Daley, tour operator of Wapusk Dog Sledding Adventures dogs and experienced “dog sledding”. We toured the rocket range, Prince of Wales Fort, hiked to the MV Ithaka, kayaked with the belugas, looked for bears and other wildlife while in zodiacs or 4*4’s and stayed up very late photographing the aurora. This is the story of our journey to Churchill.
