SUMMARY:Speaker Walter Potrebka
DESCRIPTION:Walter Potrebka presents Using Mirrorless Cameras for Bird Photography. The presentation will be about how Walter uses his mirrorless system for bird photography.  He will discuss the benefits of mirrorless cameras for bird photography\, and how he uses those benefits to capture his images. \nWalter’s love for photography started when he was growing up on the family farm near Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba\, Canada. His interest in photography started when he borrowed his sister’s camera for a trip to British Columbia when he was 13. Seeing the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains through the camera had him hooked. Combining these two loves is what drives his photography. He tries to capture the beauty that is always around\, from the close up of a tiny songbird\, to the wide vista of the Black Sand Beaches in Iceland. Recently he has been honoured to be included in the top 100 of the Audubon Bird Photography Awards\, and was a finalist in the Bird Photographer of the Year.

SUMMARY:Pierre Richard - The Northwest Passage: Greenland to Alaska
DESCRIPTION:Pierre is a biologist and naturalist who has always loved travel and the outdoors. He took up photography in the late 1990s\, mainly to document his travels and wildlife observations. But became more ambitious in his composition after reading about photography and attending WSPC meetings. Pierre was a member of the WSPC executive for 4 years. He particularly affections bird photography but likes to photograph dramatic landscapes.  The presentation illustrates two of his Arctic trips on small expedition ships where he worked as a guide. \n

SUMMARY:Speaker Robert Wilson
DESCRIPTION:Robert will be presenting on “Created photos” \nRobert  creates scenes (often building props & sets) and put actors in them.  Although he uses Photoshop\, whatever prop/scene you see in his compositions\, it is real\, not added digitally. Robert’s scenes are often Chaplinesque; characters in odd/humorous situations making fun of the situation/activity\, never the participant.  A reflection of what’s going on his mind. If there is any goal for a viewer of Robert’s photographs\, it is to generate an emotion.

SUMMARY:Speakers: Elaine O'Keeffe and Robert Bisson
DESCRIPTION:Elaine: “My almost 365…”. \nElaine began 2023 with the goal to take a photo each day for the whole year. This is her tale of some successes\, some struggles and a whole lot of enrichment\, entitled “My almost 365…”. \nElaine has been a member of WSPC for 16 years. WSPC and all its members have been a very important part of her photographic journey. She is inspired by the beauty that surrounds her as she wanders in Winnipeg\, Manitoba and while travelling.  She aims to capture those special moments\, whether it is in the scenery that surrounds her\, the people within or discovering a hidden treasure. Her goal is to capture the inner character and vibrancy of whatever she is photographing so others may see it too. \n  \nRobert:  “Lightroom Classic vs Lightroom Cloud” \nA few years ago\, Adobe had introduced Lightroom Cloud (Lr CC) as an alternative to the original Lightroom Classic (LrC).  Recently there have been significant changes to the LR CC Ecosystem to closely match the capabilities of LrC.  \nRobert will review the various platforms of Lr CC ecosystem\, differences between LrC and Lr CC plus the pros and cons of each application.  He will also demonstrate how both platforms can be used together to serve the photographer’s organizational\, editing and exporting/sharing needs. \n  \n
