Image Impact – How to be Creative in Photography

Presented by Hans Arnold – March 3, 2021

Image Impact comes from being creative in how the photographer finalizes the image both in the camera and in final post-processing. The thought process to be creative is complex and Hans will be discussing the finer details in how to achieve a visually pleasing image in what has become his style of photography using his experience in creative thinking. The discussion will include a number of mini slide presentations to emphasize the results of using elements of design and all other relative ingredients to produce your fine art.

Audience participation is encouraged after every slide show. Main Q&A at the end of the presentation.

Hans has been photographing professionally since 1979 while holding a full time job as a Facilities Project Manager in a large Manitoba school division. Since his retirement in July 2009, he has immersed himself into becoming a premier outdoor photographer, lecturer, teacher and workshop presenter. He now teaches school children, as a consultant, the art of seeing the world through a camera. His courses have enriched the lives of thousands of children and hundreds of adults through comprehensive workshops designed to teach from the basics to the intermediate level.

It is not unusual that Hans travels from his home base many times a year. From 2007 to 2019 he has journeyed to the Ukraine, Scotland, Germany, France, Ireland, several times to Africa and at least half of the states in the USA, including all the provinces in Canada. He has inventoried over  100,000 usable images that have produced numerous workshops, presentations and stock images for many publications and calendars across Canada. His two coffee table books, published in 2001 and 2013,  have become Canadian best sellers. He continues to photograph the landscape and its cultures wherever he and his partner have the desire to travel, whether it is for personal reasons or for assignments.
