Walter Potrebka’s love for nature and wildlife started when he was growing up on the family farm near Riding Mountain National Park in Manitoba. His interest in photography started when Walter borrowed his sister’s camera for a trip to British Columbia when he was 13.
Seeing the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains through the camera had him hooked. Combining these two loves is what drives his photography. Walter tries to captures the beauty that is always around, from the close up of a tiny song bird, to the wide vista of the Black Sand Beaches in Iceland.
Whether it is waiting for hours for a Chickadee to land on the perfect branch, or for the sun to illuminate the mountain, Walter finds patience and calm when in the outdoors. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “Adopt the pace of Nature: her secret is patience”.
Walter’s presentation will be focused on how he creates his images of birds. It will include information about equipment, and set-up, exposure, composition, and some of his favorite tips and tricks. If time permits, Walter will also show how he edits one of his images using Lightroom.
