Dennis Fast is one of Manitoba’s best known wildlife photographers and a former president of Nature Manitoba. His first book about polar bears, Wapusk: White Bear of the North was short-listed for a best illustrated award in Manitoba and sold over 8000 copies.

His glossy coffee table book titled Touch the Arctic was also short-listed for the same prize and won an international printing award in Paris for Friesens.

Dennis has also produced a children’s story about a family of polar bears titled Princess. The book was short-listed in 2015 by the Manitoba Writer’s Guild for the “Book of the Year for Young People” award and is also sold out.

The Journey to Churchill exhibit at the Assiniboine Park Zoo features 40 of his images of northern wildlife and landscapes. His images have appeared in numerous books, magazines, and calendars including Audubon, National Geographic and Inner Reflections to name just a few, as well as on a Canadian postage stamp.

Dennis has also been a frequent presenter across Canada at photo workshops, community fundraisers, and business seminars.

Dennis will take us on a wide ranging journey from his backyard to some exotic places he has visited in search of wildlife images. He will talk about some of the special techniques he uses to get close to wildlife, but will also talk about macro and landscape photography from his perspective.

Included in the presentation will be helpful tips about the use of software and he will also illustrate how to put your best foot forward with a few short musical pieces that are intended to be inspirational.

Prepare to learn a little bit and hopefully to be inspired to pick up your camera with some new ideas for successful photographs, whatever that might mean for you, including video work and cellphone photography
