Presented by Sarah Hodges-Kolisnyk – April 21, 2021
Sarah Hodges-Kolisnyk will draw on a decade of experience in art education to lead an informal discussion about the intersections between history, photography and memory. Her recent work uses hybrid photographic techniques to explores the relationships between past, present, future and themes of belonging. As a Cultural Studies Grad Student at the University of Winnipeg, Sarah’s research has focused on Sarah the Hamilton ghost photographs of the 1930s as well as intersections between historic vernacular and contemporary networked photography. If you have a favourite old photograph you’d like to share, please bring it to the presentation!
Sarah Hodges-Kolisnyk taught creative photography and history of photography at PrairieView School of photography for 10 years and has led the Public Art summer walking/biking tour program at the Winnipeg Arts Council for several years. Sarah approaches art as a storyteller – weaving together moments, tales, and truths to explore the connections we share while considering the unique ways that art and photography can communicate across the ages.
